Hi there! My name is Molly Stuart and I am a freshman studying Digital Media and Video Production (film) at Marymount Manhattan College. I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California; however, I am thrilled with the opportunity and experiences this city has to offer.

Growing up, I despised of the question, “what do you want to be when you grow up?”. I had no idea how to explain that my only talent and hobby was watching excessive amounts of movies and television in very short periods of time. It wasn’t until I entered my freshman year of high school that I realized my love for film and cinematography was something I should be taking more seriously.

From that point on, I decided to start making monthly video-logs to document the memories and experiences I had within those past four weeks. My primary goal with that project was to learn more about editing software and to explore what style of cinematography best interests me. Since then, I’ve taken on more serious and admirable projects. For example, my junior year of high school I produced a 40-minute documentary titled “The Understudies”, highlighting the underrepresentation of artists on high school campuses in comparison to athletes. After releasing my documentary (which took about a year to film, edit etc.) I realized that filmmaking is what I was made to do, and what I want to do for the rest of my life.

I am looking forward to my future and all that’s in store for me and my art. I am hopeful that this blog will be able to track my progress as I study filmmaking in the media / art capital of the world and my personal favorite place, New York City.

Enjoy & take care.
